FAQs

Why do I need to use special products to care for my stone?

Your natural stone surface is millions of years old and it can be damaged by using an improper cleaning product that is not suitable for use on stone surfaces. Natural stone is formed of delicate minerals that can react to improper cleaning products such as: vinegar, many over-the-counter cleaning products, window cleaners, dishwashing detergents, generic neutral cleaners, degreasers, acidic-based cleaners and much more; therefore, your stone surface must be cleaned and maintained with products only manufactured for stone surfaces. Stone cleaners, which are also neutral, are designed to clean hard porous surface by penetrating deep into the pores of the stone and lift out dirt and soils. Stone cleaners clean the surface, pores and small fissures, thus providing a safe and beautiful stone surface.

How do I care for my natural stone countertops

In order to properly maintain countertops, clean daily with Fila Brio or Fila Refresh, these two products will keep polished stone countertops clean and fresh all of the time. Apply a sealer such as Fila MP/90 or MP/90 Eco twice per year for lighter stones and once per year for darker stones.

How can I remove stains from my countertop?

Stains may occur even on stones protected with sealers. Sealers offer additional protection but in certain areas that are more porous stains may still occur. We recommend 2 different stain removers depending on the type of stain that you have. Fila SR/95 is perfect for colored stains such as wine, coffee, pasta sauce, etc. It is specially designed to go deep into the stone and can be used on natural stone without damaging the material. For oil based stains we recommend Fila NoSpot. It is an easy to use spray that can be applied to the oily or greasy stain and removed 15 minutes later.

For Oil Based Stains: FILA NO SPOT

For Colored Stains (such as food, wine, coffee, etc): FILA SR/95
