The last thing you want to do after finishing your kitchen or bathroom project is to cause any damage by improper care or maintenance. Following some simple precautions and using the correct cleaning products and methods will ensure you a lifetime of use from your quartz stone.

What is Quartz Stone?

Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth’s continental crust, after feldspar. On the MOHS scale of mineral hardness quartz is rated a 7 out of 10, only diamond, topaz and sapphire rate higher.

Quartz surfacing such as Cambria, Silestone, Caesarstone, Zodiaq by DuPont, and LG Viatera are formed using Breton technology and is comprised of 93-96% natural quartz aggregates and 4-7% color pigments and polymer resins for binding the particles together. Quartz provides natural depth and strength making it a perfect harmony of performance and beauty.

How should I care for my Quartz Counter Tops?

For all quartz surfaces we recommend daily cleaning with a neutral cleaner like Fila Brio Daily Spray Cleaner. There is no rinsing required unlike with soap and water which can leave residues on the counter which over time can cause a dull appearance from build up. Avoid harsh chemicals and anything abrasive. Quartz surfaces are non-porous and stain resistant so they do not require sealing

Exposure to extreme heat may damage quartz stone so we always recommend the use of trivets to avoid Thermal Shock.

All stone products can be damaged by force and no stone is chip-proof. Take extra care near edges and sinks to avoid objects hitting those areas as they are the areas most likely to chip. Chips can be repaired but are more visible on solid, monotone designs.
